This makes me nervous…
Nashville is currently experiencing a gas crisis.
And it wasn’t caused by the government, or all of those bad guys in the Middle East, or by a natural disaster.
It was a totally untrue, unfounded rumor. One person hears that Nashville is going to run out of gas, that person tells someone else, that person tells someone else and by Friday night mile-long lines have formed at every gas station in the city.
I would almost be embarassed by their actions if it didn’t also make me worry about our future. If a rumor is enough to get people to panic like this…if we are this dependent on our cars that the mere idea of not being able to drive stirs us into a frenzy.
It’s amazing how easily we can make decisions even if we have no proof to support them. It’s actually kind of horrifying. As trite as it sounds we have no one to blame but ourselves.
